ELINOR CARUCCI
While traveling in Ecuador, Jill Morrison, the director of the Women’s Law & Public Policy Fellowship Program and the Leadership and Advocacy for Women in Africa Program at Georgetown University Law Center, spotted this netted rainbow collar and knew it was a perfect gift for the Supreme Court Justice. The Women’s Law Program had given Ginsburg collars in the past, but this was an especially meaningful one which the Justice wore for oral arguments as federal recognition of same-sex marriage advanced. After United States v. Windsor, a majority opinion recognizing same-sex marriage, Ginsburg was the first Supreme Court Justice to officiate a gay wedding, an act she repeated on several occasions.
