ELINOR CARUCCI
Ginsburg was a visiting professor – a jurist-in-residence – at the William S. Richardson School of Law in Hawai’i in 2017. Then law-student Grace Magruder commissioned the French Polynesian designer to craft this gift to the jurist-in-residence, evoking the open form of lace within a meaningful medium in the South Pacific – elaborately arranged sea-shells. The delicate assemblage of cross-cut murex, mongo and cowrie shells represents the American islands of the Pacific.
