ELINOR CARUCCI
“I used three ivory-colored jacquards to symbolize the familial layers that underpinned Justice Ginsburg’s life,” she recounted. The topmost representing Ginsburg, supported by layers representing her husband Marty and their two children, Jane and James. Marty’s support was publicly acknowledged when, in 1993, he gave up his lucrative legal practice to move to D.C. to support Ginsburg in her role as Supreme Court Justice, telling the press: “It’s not sacrifice, it’s family.” The words are hand-embroidered inside the collar.
