"Fragile Beauty: Photographs from the Sir Elton John and David Furnish Collection" at the Victoria & Albert Museum, London

18 May 2024 - 5 January 2025
“Fragile Beauty: Photographs from the Sir Elton John and David Furnish Collection” is on view at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London through January 2025. The largest show of photography in the museum’s history, more than 300 artworks are included, including works by Diane Arbus, Stephen Shore, Sally Mann, Herb Ritts, Lalla Essaydi, and Elliott Erwitt.

The exhibition spans works made from 1950 to present day and illustrates Elton John and David Furnish's growth in collecting strategy. “I’ve become a little more patient when hunting down a particular print. Not only must it be vintage but the condition must be museum-quality,” Elton John told Vogue Magazine. Finding “Child with a Toy Hand Grenade in Central Park, NYC,” 1962 by Diane Arbus was “quite the search — we were on the prowl for years. In the end, our patience finally paid off and we found the perfect vintage print.”
