A mural-sized print of Abelardo Morell's camera obscura work makes a statement at the entrance of the Centre Pompidou-Metz's exhibition Seeing Time in Colors, curated by photography specialist Sam Stourdzé and on view through November 18, 2024. The exhibition brings together nearly 300 works and 50 photographers, offering an unprecedented journey through the great technical challenges that have marked the history of photography. One of the major highlights of the exhibitions is a mural-sized print of Abelardo Morell's "Camera Obscura: View of Lower Manhattan, Sunrise," 2022, which opens the exhibition alongside his 1998 "Camera Obscura: Boston View, Looking Southeast in Conference Room," on view from the permanent collection of the Centre Pompidou. Together, these works demonstrate and embody the ways that "photography not only shows but also modifies our perception of reality... operating as a space of revelation."
