Abelardo Morell and Valérie Belin at Saatchi Gallery

Flowers - Flora in Contemporary Art & Culture | London

On view from 12 February - 5 May 2025

Photographs from Abelardo Morell's Flowers for Lisa series (2014-22) and Valérie Belin's Black Eyed Susan (2010-23) are on view at the Saatchi Gallery in their group exhibition FLOWERS – FLORA IN CONTEMPORARY ART & CULTURE. The show explores the myriad ways that modern and contemporary artists depict flowers — a subject that has inspired artists, writers and creatives throughout history— and seeks to reveal their omnipresence within our contemporary culture. Occupying two floors and over nine major gallery spaces, this exhibition features large-scale installations, original art, photography, fashion, archival objects and graphic design exploring the ongoing influence of flowers on creativity and human expression. The project partner for a presentation of photographic works from Flora Imaginaria, curated by Danaé Panchaud and William Ewing, is the Foundation for the Exhibition of Photography (FEP). Artworks alongside Morell's and Belin's include those by Pedro Almodóvar, Nobuyoshi Araki, Christo, Jim Dine, Robert Frank, Damien Hirst, Alex Katz, Yayoi Kusama, Vik Muniz, Takashi Murakami, and Marc Quinn, amongst others.
